Why FILM Your Wedding?

Weddings are A LOT of work, but they are very enjoyable for many people. You know this is true! You have attended many weddings as either a friend, family member, or as part of the bridal party itself. Let’s rewind your life real quick and play back your wedding day experience as a guest. You experienced zero stress or wedding day pressure, outside of getting ready for the wedding and arriving on time. For the most part, you had a relaxing time and enjoyed exploring the couples venue of choice. You took time to smell the gorgeous flower arrangements. You fell in love with the bride’s dress. You commented on all the cute signs and decorations. You enjoyed eating great food and no doubt downed some free booze. To you, everything about the wedding day was beautiful and perfect. Love was in the air, and everything about life was good. The couples Ceremony was touching and even teared you up at times. However, you knew you were really there for the party and were able to put your emotions back in check. After a wonderful dinner, you probably had a bite or two of some wedding cake or something sweet. You socialized with your friends, drank a little more, kicked off your heels, and then danced the night away to some of your favorite songs. You did stress a little about what outfit to wear that day, but after many compliments, and many eyes on you while on the dance floor, you know you made the right decision. You probably left the wedding exhausted, but you had an amazing experience celebrating the happy couple and making memories with them. Your heart was happy and content. You looked forward to seeing the couples photos and wedding video so you could RELIVE this amazing day all over again!

Now it’s your turn. Now YOU are the bride! On your wedding day, many different things will be going on around you, but don’t forget that as a bride a lot more emotions and thoughts will be going on inside you as well. Your emotions will be everywhere on this day. You may laugh one minute, and then cry the next. There will be many happy moments throughout this day, but depending on the circumstances of your life, sad thoughts could creep in pretty quickly, especially if you have a loved one who has passed away or can not attend your wedding.

This might be a good time to remind you to use waterproof makeup if you feel that you may shed a few tears on your wedding day. No bride wants to ruin her makeup. Get those tears out early and hopefully you will be good to go! You are going to be nervous. Just plan for it. You will be okay. At some point those nerves will leave and you will be more relaxed. You are going to be happy. You are going to be busy! You are going to have an AMAZING day! You are going to be thinking about a million details that have to happen throughout the day. One minute you are in the moment prepping your hair or posing for a cute photo with your bridesmaid or family member, the next moment you start thinking about your honeymoon trip or the plans you have made for a very passionate night with the love of your life. You did pack that new outfit right? PANIC! Talk about brain overload! =)

What does all of this have to do with VIDEO you say? It’s a pretty easy answer. With everything going on both inside you emotionally and around you physically, you are bound to miss seeing or experiencing something very special on your wedding day. There simply is too much going on. You need an experienced videographer to help capture the moments that you miss so you can see and experience them for the first time when you see these moments on film! If you did experience them, then having a video will allow you to RELIVE them once again. It will also be a completely different experience watching your video with the love of your life. The different perspectives will be amazing and fun to watch.

A very important part of the wedding day is the pre-ceremony preparations. This portion of the day can take up hours of your morning. Having a videographer on location to film the bride during these moments will allow the groom to see and experience everything about the brides morning that he missed out on. On the flip side, filming the groom will allow the bride to experience his wedding day morning, whether that’s getting dressed or and seeing him having fun with his friends. It is always helpful to have a second shooter during this time frame. One videographer can focus on the bride getting ready, while the second shooter focuses on the groom. The experiences of the pre-ceremony preparations will be RELIVED and enjoyed when the couple watches the RAW footage video together.

Your wedding day is one of the MOST important days of your entire life. You are going to want to look back on this day at some point. I mean, if it doesn’t mean anything to you, then why all the stress, the planning, the details, and the financial investment for this one day?

What is your plan to remember and RELIVE this day? I would suggest that having both PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEOGRAPHY is the best and only way to accomplish this goal.

A professional wedding video can help complete the story of your wedding day in ways that a photograph can never tell.

You see, a photograph can help you remember your wedding day, to a degree, but a creative and well edited wedding video will help you RELIVE your wedding day! A creative and artistic wedding video will include audio sound bytes, action, and of course, music. These are three aspects that a photograph can not produce for you. You can not RELIVE the audio and actions of your vows, toasts, or any other sentimental audio sound byte from looking at a photograph, it’s just a fact.

Your wedding video will actually increase in VALUE over time. As the years go by, your memory may fade. In time, you will have family members or friends that will pass away, but their voices, personality, and comments, if filmed, will forever live on in your video. I know this first hand, as I have lost my grandmother and my dad to cancer, but they both can be seen and heard in my wedding video! Your video will truly become a treasured family heirloom and will be appreciated and cherished by future generations.Your wedding day will surround you with the most important people in your life, making this day special in and of itself, but it could also be hard on you if someone you loved dearly is missing from all the smiling faces around you. On the flip side, how important is it to you to have these most important people in your life captured on video for all time. There have been more than one time in my career that I have had a bride tell me, I can’t wait to get my video back. My grandmother was at my wedding, but she passed away a few weeks ago. This makes your wedding video priceless. No one can put a price on hearing your grandmother’s voice on video and seeing her personality once again.

I like to ask people this question. Let’s say that you put both your wedding album and your wedding video in a drawer, or in a safe, and don’t look at any of it for 20 years. After 20 years, you can choose to look at your photos or watch your video…but you can only choose one. Which one would you choose?

Every single bride that I have talked to, says they would choose to watch the VIDEO, because it will truly allow them to RELIVE the emotions, and moments they experienced on that day!

In fact, I have posted several photos throughout this blog, but you can’t see the action, hear the voices, or even experience the personalities of those in the photographs. However, I guarantee you that If  watch any of my wedding films, these moments will come to life!
